July 24th, 2014
From July 16 thorugh July 20, hundreds of historic preservation experts and aficionados from all over the country converged on the City of Philadelphia for Forum 2014: A Statewide Conference on Heritage Byways to the Past. As part of the conference, 25 attendees took an historic bus and walking tour of our Union Gardens Elm Street neighborhood. The bus tour began at the Twentieth Century Club, then stopped at the Nile Swim Club where Board President Kenneth Green told of the swim club’s history. Tour members walked around the swim club, then continued on a walking tour to see the area’s variety of architectural styles and periods. The tour ended at the Lansdowne Theater and the Lansdowne Farmers Market. Many thanks to the Delaware County Office of Historic Preservation for all of their help and hard work.
